They are called sensitive hair, although what is really sensitized and unprotected is the scalp (the hair fiber itself is an inert material).

Seborrheic dermatitis is the most typical pathology that causes itching, flaking and irritation of the scalp. In this process, plaques of sebum are formed that adhere to the scalp and are shed. It is often caused by an overgrowth of a fungus, which a dermatologist will need to determine.

To relieve itching, soothing and cooling substances, such as witch hazel extract, are needed. The objective is to gradually reinforce and strengthen the hydrolipidic layer to prevent external agents from attacking it.

Soothing lotions are helpful in times of flare-ups. Breakout treatment shampoos can be combined with maintenance shampoos, which prevent breakouts from occurring frequently.
